Siem Reap Highlights
- Aki Ra’s Cambodia Landmine Museum houses an amazing collection of defused and now completely safe landmines and unexploded ordnance that owner Aki Ra has amassed over the years. Aki has many of them on display in an onsite artificial minefield, in addition to an eclectic array of artifacts and memorabilia. There is no admission fee. The museum, which used to be located on the river near the main road between Angkor Wat and Siem Reap, has a new location, near Angkor Wat’s Bantay Seray temple. Every taxi, moto, and túk-túk driver in town knows the way!
- Apsara Dancers appear nightly at many venues around Siem Reap, including various restaurants and hotels. Dancing to music played on traditional instruments, they perform folk and traditional dances in a show typically lasting an hour or so. Restaurants are great places to see the dancers, where you can eat and be entertained for a fixed price, usually $15-20. Ask you hotel to recommend a restaurant with an Apsara show that evening.
